"What Jade and I would call one ideal day was strolling the Tsuboya pottery district in Okinawa. Shops were filled with a distinct, lagoon-like blue--manganese and glassy cobalt glazes, atop indigenous Ryukyu limestone clay, even blending to green from Ficus ash. Looking onto a small plate, you could see Okinawa in the middle of the tides, you could imagine your future self free of FOMO and full of gratitude, full of this feeling of how massive this planet and its people were. We were famished after this silent gawking, stomachs making gurgling sea sounds, and the one last food we had wanted to try but couldn't find anywhere open for the days leading up to new year - buku buku cha, rice foam tea - had a spot right in front of one of the district's last shops, despite supposedly being closed. We drank that briney foam so fast, along with kakigori made with dangling fairies of ice that looked like vertical waves frozen in motion. Thank you, @okinawabukubuku", 2024. Shot on Canon Rebel SL3.
